Massa Lubrense is a suggestive village located on the Sorrento Coast and near the Amalfi Coast. It contains mainly villages and hamlets like Marina della Lobra, Marina di Puolo, Marina del Cantone, Monticchio, Sant’Agata sui Due Golfi, Termini, Marciano, Metrano e Casa. The ancient inhabitants believed that under this part of the sea have lived the mermaids; the seamen who have heard its singing, unfortunately have lost their boat and their life.
The first settlers were the Greek. Today we can admire the ruins of the Temple of Athena. The Longobardian called this place Massa to indicate the crops, and the term Lubrense was come from the Church, because the inhabitant venerated so much the Madonna della Lobra
